Default Sound System Help Needed

I just bought an amp and I need some help hooking it up. I didn't think it would be that difficult cuz I once watched my ex's bro hook up a junky one so I figured I could do it myself. Well, theres lots of wires and I have a few questions maybe you guys can help me with. I bought the Pioneer GM-510T and some speaker wire from walmart(yea I know, don't buy from walmart) last night. I would like to get it installed today. I already have it mounted to the back of the back seat in my 98 stang and it fits perfectly. First question, I need to run a power wire from the battery to the power connection on the amp. My wire has two lines(a positive and a negative?) so what do I wire, both or only one?Could one wire be used for power and the other a ground?

yeah, there should be one wire that is red which is the power. on the amp there should be a plus sign near the power connection. the power wire should have an inline fuse close to one end. this end goes on the battery. if it doesnt have a fuse in it, it would be wise to put an inline fuse in it near the battery. the other wire u can just hook to the negative terminal on the amp and just bolt it to a piece of metal that connects to the body (i.e. under the seat). then u just need to hook up your speakers, sub.

I hope you dont mean your using a speaker wire for power wires???Youneed atleast a 8 gauge power wire and a 8 gauge ground wire. The ground wire can be grounded anywere and the power wire should be run to the battery. Then you run a blue wire to a ignition switch or the back of the radio depending on what radio you have.If its a stock radio just run the blue wire to the fuse panel to a spot that is turned on and off with the key if you have an aftermarket radio you should have a blue wire coming out of the radio that is for triggering amps and will say it right on it.there are three wires that need to be hooked up righ the Power 12v,ground,and the remote wire Blue, other than that its just speaker wires and those are easy to figure out. Heres a picture of the stereo I did in my friends truck along with 400 pounds of dyno mat

ok like saleen said use 8 gauge wire (at the least) make sure u read the amp specs and use the correct inline fuse, just run a power cable from your batter to your amp with an inline fuse under the hood, after u have that set run a ground to your body or anywhere really, once u have it grounded you need to run your RCA cables from the radio back to the amp, you should then have a spot on your amp labled REM. this is your blue wire that will trigger the cutoff, from your ignition, run this to your radio if u have a spot for it. if u need any help u can ask me i have installed and uninstalled a few

a good place to run the ground especially if you are around the seat is to unbolt the seatbelt around the floor and ground it there. it is a solid spot that is connected to the body of the car...just make sure you tighten that bolt for the passenger
