What engine should I swap?
Hello, I recently purchased a old 1977 mustang II 4-banger. obviously 4 cylinders isnt enough for me so im wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what engine I should swap into it, I was thinking of getting a Turbo V6 but I would have no idea which ones would be compatible? Im not very knowledgeable with cars and this is my first one. I found a guy who would do the labor for a engine swap for only 1k.

any input is appreciated!

The old Mustang II's are my favorite, even though they seem to be the ugliest things on the road. :/ If you're thinking of a turbo V6, I would go the route of a 3.8L from the old SN95/new edges, but think about a 4.2L stroker from http://www.moranav6racing.com/catego...?CategoryID=16, as stated from this thread: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...oker-kits.html
LilRoush, I've never heard of anyone having issues with Morana nor have I ever worked with them, but I'll take your word for it. LS1 get outta here with that bastardization...
Verial have you thought of maybe doing the turbo 2.3L from the SVO swap?
If it were me, I think the 5.0 Coyote would be the engine of choice.
Probably the cheapest bang for the buck powerwise is to get a big block pushrod and put that in with the appropriate mods (new K-Member for the engine mounts, etc.).
Going with dropping in a modular engine, be it a 4.6L OHC or the new 5.0L Coyote would be much more expensive. Nearly $7K for the Coyote itself, plus maybe another $1.5K for the electronics package to make it work.
Of course, it all depends on how crazy you want to go with it. If you take your pushrod big block, bore it, stroke it, put in all forged internals, turbo or supercharge it, add nitrous, you will be spending in excess of a Coyote and its electronics control package.
It also depends what you want to do: all out drag racing or street driving with some strip racing. All out racing will be very expensive. Where if you build a street driver with the intent for some strip racing, you can actually work on an average man's budget.
