really..never herd of the light comes on time to change oil*L*..light comes on 1-2 qts low maybe..I have used mobil 1 since 1980 it's one of the best..any oil isn't **** with out the best oil filter ya know....hastings,amsoil,red line,k/n are great...but not fram

I don't think I've ever driven my car past 3k w/ same oil.... With my gears my speedo is off so it racks up the mileage so I change it prolly ever 2500 if that.......

my truck has what is called a message center. it tells me when i need all kinds of stuff. it is in the gauge cluster. you can go a whole year before it comes on depending on how the truck is driven. that is what is written in the manual. if your wondering i have 02 silverado.

 

it nice to have. it tells when engine is overheating[yes there is gauge also], then if it gets too serious the comp. will shut dow nthe truck, it also tells which fluid is low, also shows the security system when its armed. its deff. a nice feature. go to your local chevy or gmc dealership and check it out. its on any of the fullsize truck line including the suv

 

I think I'm buying some oil stock today. that 3000 miles oil change is just something throw'd out there..really..5k miles oil change are ok with synth. and your saving $$$..

remember 70-85% of wear is when you strat the car as we all know this is where syth. really shines. just think if you added and oil primer system to your car (500.00) mieage would double so 'stang would be running around with 2/300k would be the norm. man ford would hate that huh?..guess why it never has been an option on any of there cars


ohso........does yours have on-star?......alot of todays cars will blink the engine soon light at predeterm'd mileage for service. I'm not sure I like the wait til I see the light to service because other problems could arise way down the road and could be gm's way to change the trend of people hangin on to the cars/trucks longer...but I guess for some it's a great idea thinking it takes the guess work out of it.
