Squeak Question

Squeak Question
My 89 Coupe develops a squeak somewhere in front of the driver around 45 MPH. Once it starts, it doesn't stop until the car sits for awhile... then it doesn't squeak again until I hit about 45 again. The "speed" of the squeak follows the speed of the car - like when the car slows down, the squeak slows down. Somebody told me that it could be a speedometer cable. Does that sound right?... or what else could it be?
Thanks for any help...

RE: Squeak Question
A speedometer cable binding will sometimes cause the speedo needle to jump a little instead of riding steady.Speedo cables are not that hard to replace, you can also take the end off at the transmission and pull the cable out and lube it with high temp.grease.Sometimes though there is a ring installed on one end to keep the cable from moving back and forth inside the housing and coming loose, you might have to remove the speedo end to get the cable out.
