Default another engine work question

which engine parts, if any that i take off and plan to re-install should i make sure i put back in the same place?
currently im planning to take the top end off. air filter to the block. i want to take a look at the push rods.
so for example, the push rods, if i get them out, should i make sure i put them back in the same location, or does it not matter?
actually, theres probably not much else i think i need to worry about. lifters maybe?
i think i can get the push rods out by loosening the rockers and moving them to the side. and by 'i think i can' i mean i think its possible, not that i think i can actually do it. but lets say the rockers have to come off, then should i make sure i put them back in the same place when i re-install as well?

also, perhaps it is just a smart move to put these types of things back in the same place they came out of regardless? i could simply do that, but im thinking maybe might be more trouble than its worth. however, maybe it might be absolutely no problem to put them back in different spots, maybe even beneficial? kinda like rotating tires?

btw, if its not completely obvious, i have no engine repair/building knowledge. im just doing this to learn, and also to maybe find some problems. maybe bent rod, loose valves, etc.

Lifters and push rods should all be put back into the same place as they came out as they have worn together. Same goes for valves and valve springs and the like.

Hey whatsup guys. Quick question, My heads are coming in from the machine shop tomorrow and this is my first rodeo. I kept them all in the same order, except maybe the pushrods..but anyways i wanted to know if torquing them was pretty much as simple as told. 44 in lb first stage and 26 ft lb the other. AND if when im torquing the head bolts, i do the

5137
8426 Pattern.

Thanks

Make sure you torques the bolts from the middle of the head out in each direction! They should also be torqued in a specific order. I am sure if you go to Youtube they will have a video illustrating the correct procedure.
