HELP FUEL GUAGE TROUBLE
ok so my mustangs fuel guage needle would almost always be past the full mark and out of sight behing the dash... then it would accasinally fall to a half and sometimes a quarter tank.... anyway a few days ago i replaced the sending unit in the tank and it seemed to have fixed the problem.... i filled the car up and it went right to full and was comming down consistently from there.... at half tank the needle just stuck there . keep in mind i was driving constantly .... then it went slightly below the half mark and the low gas light came on.. what the ****? does anyone know what would do this??? i really want my guage to work

RE: HELP FUEL GUAGE TROUBLE
give some background info on the car maybe u might get some more replies,---i dont know tho i think there is a sensor that could be fkin up and giving all kinds of crazy gauge readings, i know a friend who replaced his fuel pump and then ran out of the gas couple days later while it showed him still having a quarter of a tank or so...lol...sorry im no help

RE: HELP FUEL GUAGE TROUBLE
Sounds like it could be some sort of sensor. Do you fill up at the same station every time? I had a problem kinda similar: My gas gauge will be at, lets say 1/4 tank, and I'll go to a certain speedway near work to fill up. After turning my car on afterward, my gas gauge stays at E, well, below E where it lies when the car is off. After about 3-5 starts, it goes back to normal and I have no problems.
BUT, this only occurs at this ONE speedway, and since I noticed it was just occurring there, I don't fill up there anymore. I don't know if it's something in the gas, or what, but I'm not taking any chances.
If you do fill at one station, maybe try another... it sounds weird, but it happened to me.
