Default possible dead transmission

What's up everyone, the title says it all. But I will try to best explain what happend. While driving in fourth shifting up into fifth my trans would grind slightly under normal driving conditions. And while down shifting from 5th to 4th the shifter would seem to "hang up" in fifth so I'd have to push it all the way back into 5th and then pull it into fourth. This was everyday almost ocasionaly it'd shift fine.
Now onto what happend...I was cruzing down the highway in 5th and went to downshift into 4th, of course it hung up but badd this time and got stuck in 5th. I was able to get it out of gear but now when I move the shifter through the gears it feels really rough and requires a lot of force. Pretty sure I busted somthing in the trans but any insight into what might of happend would be greatly appreciated

Sounds more like your clutch went out. Does the car shift fine thru the gears while off? If so, put it in first gear and crank it with your feet off the brake,to see if it tries to roll or stays still. If it rolls forward then you need a new clutch.

I have a brand new clutch and its working fine. Pulled the transmission out today and turns out the 5th-reverse fork is busted along with syncro. Didn't get to look in the main case but its gonna have to be taken to a shop to be fixed.
