Default Which muffler???

So, I'm trying to buy my dad some mufflers for his 2006 mustang GT for his birthday

I want his car to have that bad-*** loud mustang sound that you hear every once in a while on the street. That only mustangs have.
The car has two Magna Flows on there now but the "sound" is just not there.

I was told to go with a Flow master 40 series (Delta) to get that loud "mustang sound"

What do you think, and what are you guys using??

thanks

If the rest of the car is stock, then I think the usual choice is the SLP Loudmouth or MAC Boomtubes if you want loud:

These are muffler deletes, by the way. Not sure if this violates some state inspection laws?

First thing I did when I purchased my Mustang is put the Flowmaster American Thunder (40 Series) axle back exhaust on. The stock was way to quite for me. IMHO these are perfect.

honestly, you arent really going to get that loud mustang sound with just mufflers. the mufflers will make it a little louder than stock, but they are mainly there to give a good tone to the exhaust. what makes most mustangs loud is eliminating the cats. you could get him an off-road x-pipe which would make it much louder and more Bada** sounding, but it appears you are in CA, so it wouldnt pass smog. and as OneLargeToe said, you could get SLP loudmouths, or boomtubes, and it would be loud. but these are basically eliminating part of the exhaust system, which wouldnt pass smog either. if you have somewhere to work on the car, the exhaust can easily be switched out every 2 years for the smog test though.

Unfortunatley to do that you will need a good ole fashioned pushrod 302.

closest thing for these cars, I think, is a set of muffler deletes.
