Default clutch bad?

My clutch works/feels perfectly fine when vehicle is off, but with engine running it has no pressure on the pedal. The linkage on the bellhousing moves with the pedal but has no effect inside the transmission. It happened all of a sudden, driving down the road and it quit. The gears are fine because i can slap shift and it drives with no odd noises. I think its cable driven but not sure, i just dont see any fluod hoses. Its a 1990 mustang lx convertible, 5 speed manual, 4 cylinder engine, everything (almost) bone stock. Any ideas?

Uhhh, that is kinda strange.. The car being on or off has no effect on the clutch. It's a cable clutch.. I'm kind of stumped.. I'm trying to think

So with the engine off the clutch pedal has pressure, but when running the pedal easily goes to the floor?

Exactly, engine off the pedal has pressure, feels about normal, but when i crank the vehicle the pedal has no pressure but still returns to top position, in other words doesnt stay down

That is extremely strange...hmmm only thing I can figure is that there is something wrong with the clutch itself since the linkage is working correctly. You may want to check if there's a way to adjust the linkage
