Default Battery fried?

Hey guys,

The battery in my 05 GT died earlier today, so I replaced my stock battery with an Optima Yellow Top. I was tightening down the positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery when I accidentally hit the negative terminal with the other end of my ratchet. It sparked, and it smelled like smoke. I did this twice. The car seemed to start up fine though. Do you all think this did any significant damage to the battery?

Good to know. The ratchet didn't get hot. I'll pay more attention to what I'm doing in the future. Thanks.

You will be fine. The only thing you need to worry about when you do that is the battery could explode from the spark igniting the battery fumes.
