Car is making a weird noise, HELP
ever since I installed a CAI in my 99 v6. It has been making a weird noise heres what I know. Every 45 seconds to 1 minute one of the wheels attached to serpentine belt comes to a stop for only a couple seconds then kicks back on a second the car almost sounds like its burping when this happens. and the noise seems to be comming from the emission pump in fender wall but I could be wrong. Does any one have a clue what im talking about at this point? Im wondering if after installing a CAI the emissions are messed up and if the smog pump keeps kicking on, and even if that is the case why does it constantly turn on and turn off by the minute?? thanks.

RE: Car is making a weird noise, HELP
The smog pump should be running at all times normally. Installing a CAI shouldn't effect your emissions, all you're doing essentially is: 1) smoothing out the pipe that the air flows through (the stock tubes aren't so great) and 2) bringing in cooler, more dense air... more O2 + more fuel = more power!
As to what the actual problem is, I don't have a clue. It's very not likely your CAI. Remove it and put your old intake back on, if it is still doing what it is, it was just coincidental.

First make sure all your attachments are connected and sealed well. The only thing I can think that is going on and off is your A/C compressor. Try adding more freon, and check all your CAI connections, and see if it goes away.
