Insurance question
ok well i might be having the chance to get a nice GT 5.0 with a blown engine for cheap. now my question is that right now i have a 2.3 auto and i pay something like 1200 a year. I'm 17 and havn't had anything bad happen yet other than one ticket. Please if someone can tell me how much would it cost to have the 5.0 on my insurance. Just tell me how much you pay compared to how much i pay.
right now, on my '92 GT, i pay $95/month for full coverage with a $500 deductible. im 21yrs old, with no tickets. and ive been outta school since '02, and i only had like a high-C avg thru high school.
Just wait till' you hit 25. Mine just dropped to 400/ 6 months and thats with 1 ticket and an accident (that happened 3 years ago and will be taken off my next policy). They said it will probaly drop to around 320 or so every 6 months..... until, break out the check books kids!!
My advice is to stay on your parents policy as long as possible. I was on my parents through college, 21 y/o then, and I was paying 589/6 months on a 2002 Honda Accord SE. As soon as i took the policy in my own name, it went to $1100/6mos with a flawless record. As soon as it went down, i got the Mustang and it went right back up. I am paying $180/month, $500 ded for a 03 GT, with a flawless record and 24 years old.
it is difficult to compare what each of you pay because of several variables
not only your GPA and driving history, but also the deductible, the value of your car, the engine, and there are many different levels of coverage (diff. dollar amounts that insurance will cover in case of accident) or just plain old liability....

and definitely stay on your parents plan and just write them a check...they get a discount on all the rates for having multiple vehicles on the same account....but you will need to have the car in their name (I think)
