Question Electrical Issues

I have had my mustang for almost a year now, recently I have been running into some electrical problems. There is no power to the rear view mirror or trunk lights. All of the fuses and relays checked out. Even more strange, the passenger side window controls do not work at all, but the drivers side control will roll down the passenger window. But if I am rolling it down with the controls on the drivers side and I press the controls on the passenger side, it stops. Any suggestions?

Not sure about the trunk lights and the rear view, but as for the window, it could be one of two issues. You either have a bad power wire going to the window switch in the passengers door, or a bad window switch in that door. Mine is a 90, and the drivers switch sends its own power to connector on the passengers side switch, which is why it works with the drivers side switch. Also, I believe the power wire on the passengers side runs both the window and the door lock. If the door lock works, then the power wire is probably OK. It may be different on a newer model, but I would guess they are similar.

The window issue is a common problem. The passenger side gets power (or is it ground, I can’t remember) through the drivers side door switch’s window lock-out button. Make sure that button is not depressed. If it isn’t then pop the drivers door switch out and wiggle its connectors while you press the passenger door switch and see if the passenger window starts working. If so then it is either the switch or a bad connection.

If that doesn’t help, then the only way to figure it out is by poking around with a multi-meter & circuit diagram to find the broken wire.

Thanks for the feedback, after replacing both the window and power lock switches it is functional.
