Default what should I have done?

In 2007 I had my first mustang and I remember I ordered a Cold air intake online then attempted to install it with my friend. we took the stock one off and assembled the new one and put it on, hwoever the end of the intake (the side with the filter) was supposd to be mounted to the side of the car like the stock one was, but we couldn't get it to fit and mount so we just kinda left it.

however when i drove it would always move around and come loose and the car would stop so i would have to get out and screw it back on, this went on until i sold the car.

If i had taken it to a shop would they have been able to fix it somehow?

I am 100% sure a shop could have done it...I can't think of how you couldn't have. They are made to be 100% bolt on.

An improperly installed air filter will allow contaminants into the engine, which is not good. You do not want to run like that.

Ummm...why are you asking this now instead of when you owned the car?
