Unhooked battery, now a noise????
I have a 1998 Mustang GT Convertible. A past owner change out the radio from a Mach 460 to a Alpine CDE 9841. I purchased a used Mach 460 Radio and a Mach 460 CD player. I wanted to take the center console cover off. I unhooked the battery according to the Hayes Mustang Manuel. I wanted to check to see if the wiring is still there. I found out that it won't work, so I reinstalled the Alpine and center console cover. Hooked the battery back up. Now I have this reverberation coming from the door speakers. Without the key in the ignition. Radio is off, no key in the ignition, What did I do? and how to fix it.

There is a always on hot lead to the radio used to power the memory and clock. Stock wiring there is also a light control lead that goes to the radio, but that would most likely only have power when the lights are on.
With these in mind, there could be short to the speaker wire or the head unit may have gotten shorted out.
Out of curiousity, why are replacing an Alpine with a stock Mach?

Actually, I wanted to get back to stock condition. I got to playing with the owners manual, checked out the high amp fuse's. The audio had a 25 amp fuse, so I assumed it was for the amplifier, so I took it out and it solved the problem. I'm leaving the Alpine in it. Hey, it works and sound good. At least loud enough to override the muffler's. I'm not sure why it started to act up, because all I did was unhooked the battery. Got to take it out for a test spin. Thanks. Jerry
