1990 5.0 odd starter issue
I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this issue, or has some insight as to what to do.
So I start my 1990 5.0 yesterday like any other day, the day fires up just fine, but the dam starter keeps trying to start the car that's already running...
The starter keeps going and going, I put the car in reverse, let out the clutch and hold the brake to try and get it to start, but it wont even stall, it just keeps trying to start the car over and over. I even turned the key off, took it out of the ignition, and it kept trying to start the car... what the heck?
It did that till the battery died. I than got a friend to try and jump me, and as soon as we put the jumper cables on, the starter began to try and start the car, keys weren't even in it yet!
Any idea's as to what is happening, and how I can fix this? Need the car soon to travel.
Thanks,
Shane

How could I test for either? I read on a seperate post that you can "pull the little wire" off of the battery or solenoid to get it to stop cranking, but I'm not sure what wire that would be? I have an MSD street fire ignition on the car.

On the solenoid there are 2 large wires that supply voltage to the starter one from the battery and one to the starter. There is a small wire also that signals the solenoid to operate.
If you pull the small wire off and then connect the battery if the solenoid is stuck it will start cranking the engine , if you pull the small wire off and connect the battery and it stops cranking you know the problem is in the switch or the wire that send the start signal to it .
