Rear End Grinding
Hey everyone. I've searched far and wide for an answer to this problem and no luck so I'm going to try with you guys.
I bought a used 2012 Mustang GT. The dude that owned the car before me had put in a 4.10 gear, and lowered the car by at least an inch. I can't be too sure. I had the dealer put the factory gear back in, as I didn't like shifting 13 times by the time I hit 30 mph. and it was just too low of a gear for this car. I noticed also that there was a slight metallic grinding noise coming from the rear-end when I turned slightly right and less so when I turned slightly left. Almost like a gear was rubbing against something. They put the factory gear back in but when I got it back, it was still making the noise so I asked them to take another look at it. They said it had a bad ring gear, and replaced it. A month later, I was back at another dealer because the noise had come back. Again, they said it had a bad ring gear, and replaced it. A month later, this became a loud howling noise along with the grinding sound, took it back, they said it had a bad pinion gear.
Guess what, it's doing it again. An increasingly loud metallic grinding anytime I have the wheel even slightly left or right. At first, the dealer acted like they could refuse to cover this issue under warranty as they claimed that the lowering of the car was causing the issue. I fought this and they eventually relented and have now had the car 3 times to try to fix this.
Well, apparently when the guy lowered the car, the only thing he did is put some after market springs in, and that's it. I don't see how an alignment issue could be causing this issue???
Any thoughts on this???
Thanks in advance.

Have they even checked the wheel bearings??
Or even the carrier bearings??
I highly doubt that lowering it would cause this problem Ive got mine lowered
2.25" With 3.73 gears no problems ever.
Find a new dealership and take in your paper work from the other dealers , mention the wheel bearings and carrier bearings.
