Magnetic Oil Drain Plug
Ok i saw these magnetic oil drain plugs that supposedly are super strong. they claim to attract metals and so on in the oil.
i think it is far fetched being that the oil is thick and the speed that it is travelling is probably too fast to let the magnet catch anything.
although while the car is off i could see it picking up metal particles floating near it in the oil.
has anyone used a magnetic oil plug???
give me your input here

Yes may car came stock with one. What you will see is a powder that is on the magnet, this is actually dust from the bearings and rings, if you see anything bigger than a fine powder you have big problems.
ive always heard that its a good idea to have one, i do , but if your motor is making metal shavings big enough to see, a magnetic drain plug wont do you anygood cause your gonna have a serious problem pretty soon.

Anything that helps to catch what the oil filter misses is a decent idea. A magnetic drain plug works fine. Your differential fill plug has one in the rear end.

. A magnetic oil drain plug is a good thing to have as others have said.
good thats all exactly what i wanted to klnow before i went and spent 15 bucks on one. ill probably pick one up next week. but DAMMIT, i JUST did an oil change last week.... haha i guess ill have to either wait or pull the old plug fast....
i think i will buy 2 of them since there is the other oil drain plug on the front of the pan... and extra magnet couldnt hurt
