Default Stubid newbie question

I just got my 04 GT anniversary edition, and proudly got stick. Only problem is, I've been driving it for two days, and don't know what I'm doing wrong. I keep letting the clutch up too slowly, I mean, I shift perfectly, but is it usuall for me to still be slow on it? Every time I try to do it a little faster I wind up either bucking or stalling. My poor tranny <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley19.gif border="0">

im assuming you mean from a stop, into first gear. you have to get a good feel for when the clutch starts to give, and a feel for the right amount of gas to make a smooth transaction.i give it just a bit of gas as i pull off the clutch. just practice fluxuating between the clutch and the gas. don't wait till you pull the clutch out to give it a bit of gas, give it a smidgen as you pull off, and more steadily as you pull off the clutch completely and ease it into gear. </P>

anyone else care to add/elaborate?</P>

if you're stalling then just give it more gas, it'll pull out, especially in a torquey V8</P>

JUst give it more gas. Your rear Wheels might spin alittle, but thats a cool thing. Stalling isn't. But give it time you'll be a pro.

Dude, all it takes is practice. Just drive as much as you can until you find the sweet spot. Startby slowly letting the clutch pedal out, then as soon as you feel the car move give it a little gas, then it's an even trade between letting off the clutch pedal and mashing on the accelerator. If this if your first time driving a stick, give it a week or 2 to get the hang of it. I learned to drive stick on an '81 Z28 and man, it was rough. Bought it in the afternoon, worked the rest of the day, and drove home that night, and stalled at just about every light. <IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"> </P>

P.S. As long as you're not grinding when you shift or shifting hard, your tranny will be just fine, so don't worry about that.</P><edited><editID>USAMuscle</editID><editDate>37977.0122453704</editDate></edited>

damn every light? first time i ever touched a stick, i just got in and took off. i knew the concept, just had never done it. my friend was with me, and was like not bad, not bad at all (meaning the car) and i said yea for my first time driving a stick. he gave me a sitting ovation. lol, i stalled it out the next time i took off from a stop.
