Hey everybody. I had taken my 89 Lx to the shop to get a few things fixed, only to find out i cant. For one i have a 92 347 stroker and a TKO 5 speed, which means NO speedometer. Cant i get a after-market speedometer, if so where??? And my gas gauge dont work, they installed a new part that goes in the back of the gas cluster. Sorry forgot the part name...anyway that didnt work. The only way it seems to work is to ground it??? Im only going by what i was told....it was obvious he didnt want to work on it. Any clue on how i can get this working? This car was built for "racing" but it would be nice to race or just go for a drive and not have to worry about running out of gas. Thanks

 

why can't you use the one you got? is it the cable? any napa store has one. are you sure the sending unit in the gas tank isn't bad? mine went bad,and paid $80 bucks for it,but i do have another one that works you can tell it was a replacement one.so i'll say it's fairly used.to good condition.

 

Yeah the cable was cut and i thought all i needed was a cable. But i found out that the tranny doesnt use a cable...it uses a sencor. Im totally cluesless ..i thought if you bought a tranny it would have to be compatible with your speedometer.

 

huh? i have a tko also...it probably still has the plug in the hole.

 

I been reading about the "Tko 5 speed" which is what i have, and it says that it will work with my original speedometer. It also says that the tko has a electronic connector and a mechanical speedometer. So if i understand you correctly, your probably talking about the mechanical which means all i have to do is pull out the electronic connector and install the other cable??
