Default Amount of oil

Hi-- Just a quick question about the proper amount of oil for an oil change on a 2003 GT. I put 6 quarts in and it still shows about a half of quart low on the dip stick. Are people using more than the 6 quarts that it calls for or do I have a dip stick problem?

6qts is perfect. Not sure why it might be reading low on the dipstick.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is that many people are running 6.5-7 quarts. I have also read that the proper amount is 6 quarts and the oil line half way on the hash marks on the dip stick is full. I'll stick with 6.

The people running over 6qts are probably 03/04 Cobra owners (think Mach's as well, but not positive). Those engines have a slightly increased capacity. Anything over 6 in a 2V with a stock pan could be problematic.
