Angry 2nd gear grinds when RPMs are high

So I have a 2014 v6 with just over 10k miles on it. When I shift from 1st to 2nd just before redline (7k), it won't go into gear and grinds terribly. Shifts normal when not under stress.

I have a short shifter, a bracket, stainless steel clutch line, and whiteline trans bushing and am still having an issue with 2nd gear.

Is anyone else having this problem? I think it's kind of early for the syncros to be going out but I know these MT82s have crappy plastic internals. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.

you burned up the 2nd gear syncro, take it in , it will be a few weeks for parts. the only plastic internals are the shift fork fingers, and that the same in just about all transmissions.those will only burn up if the shifter is used as a hand rest

I agree with you bringing it in to your Ford Dealer to get it looked at, yourmom6990. Your service manager is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

You can schedule an appointment online here. Let me know the outcome.

I appreciate your concern. But this vehicle is not under warranty.

So i've done some 1-2 shifts runs over the past couple days and I've come to the conclusion that this MT85 does not like speed shifting 1-2 like the T3650 did. If I give it an extra half second to engage, it goes in no problem. All other gears I am able to speed shift, but the 1-2 locks me out every time. My guess is because there is so much torque at the low gear and high RPMs that our remote style shifter does not line up properly. By waiting that extra half second, the RPMs start to barely come down therefore taking the stress off of the drivetrain resulting in 2nd engaging properly.

shifter line up is not your issue, by design that is impossible. either you are shifting before the clutch is disenguaged, or the syncro is worn.

How is that impossible? These are remote style shifters. Meaning the shifter does not rest on the trans. The rear of the shifter is actually bolted onto the body where as the rest of the drivetrain is to the frame/chassis.

2014 with 10k miles? How is it NOT under warranty? You must have voided it somehow, in which case you should stop abusing your car as that is likely what caused your current issue.

There goes Cruisin. Jumping to conclusions as usual. You literally never have anything of value to say. If you don't have any input relating to the OP, then don't post at all. Why are you even a part of the forums? The vehicle has never been under warranty since I purchased it brand new. The reason is of none of your concern and had nothing to do with me.
