My wife and I bought this GT knowing that there was a problem with the transmission. So now I am trying to figure out where to begin looking. We were told the transmission was not working. During the tow home, we have a small mountain we have to go down and it can be a pain going down a large slope with a tow. So I decided to let the GT coast the entire 15 miles. I got in the car and started it so that the breaks and steering would work better. Once I got going, I shifted from Neutral to Drive. Funny thing was I could feel the transmission perform the shifting. So I touched the gas pedal and I was able to get the car to move under its own power. If I gave it too much gas, the transmission would slip out of gear, usually around 2200 RPM, it also made a funny whizzing sound during down shift. So now I am trying to figure out where to start since the transmission isn't completely gone.

I am a little familiar with the 4R70W it has in it, we have a 2000 base model with the same transmission. Anyone have any ideas.

I'd start a new thread in the Tech section for your year car, Hopefully someone over there had similar troubles and knows the fix. Sounds to me though as it may be something simple, but I'm not at all familiar with the newer stangs.

Would the computer store trouble codes for the tranny ? Maybe start there. Good luck
