Default 97 GT won't start in the morning

My car had sat for a while since I had to have some break work done. When the weather got better I had the work done and my battery was dead. Replaced the battery and everything was fine.

Few days later I got off work at 7am and my car would not start. Had it towed to the shop, they look at it and can't find anything wrong and it starts right up for them. One of my battery connections was corroded so I had them replace it.

Car works for about a week, and then one morning I have a day shift and get in my car at around 7am again and it doesn't start again. Later that day it starts up just fine.

Went to bring my car back to the shop this morning at around 7am again, car doesn't start again. It's now starting up just fine.

There is no cranking, no noise. Lights are on, they do not dim. It is exactly as if I was trying to start the car without pushing the clutch in, and it has happened 3 times and only in the morning, and later in the day it has started up just fine.

Any ideas?

That's what I am thinking. They checked the starter and ignition. They did not check clutch safety switch, it's what I was going in this morning to have them check. Think the moisture from the morning dew could be causing the problem?

ironic. wife had a Camaro years ago that would eat starters....if it rained or snowed.

when starter dried out, it'd fire up like a champ. otherwise, clank.

you aren't even getting that. more and more, that clutch switch sounds suspect.

just my opinion.

Well it's what I was thinking too, I just wanted to get some more opinions before I bring it in to make sure the problem is resolved. I wish my first time there I had thought about it and had them check it. Had just done a 12 hour shift though and it was several hours past my bedtime and my mind was a bit slow.

they are mechanics...they do this for a living, and should know what to look for.

(trying to divert blame away from you...hoping that helped)

Haha thanks. It's not anyone's fault, they did not know what to look for because they couldn't replicate the problem and I couldn't leave the car with them.

I'm thinking it's an open instead of a short.
