Default Headers?

First question, a guy that I work with drives a cavalier. He said that he got new racing headers and had them swirled bored or something like that. Is there any such thing and if so does it add 50 hp. I mean I might be wrong but I believe this guy is talking out of his a$$.
Second question how much hp if any would you lose by having an exhaust leak around the headers. And if no hp loss is there any major down side to having an exhaust leak around the headers besides the annoying noise.

Well def. not 50 hp... punch him in the ******* for me.

I dont think there is really any performance issues with a header leak... unless its turbo charged, but I could be wrong. I mean, a 2 cycle piston port motor NEEDS backpressure but aside from that type of motor, I dont think its really hurting anything.

Tell that guy to **** himself about the 50hp, the header alone I doubt gives him 20 hp. I seen on horsepower tv once they used a small air powered grinder and smoothes out where the welds are on the inside by the flange but this might only give a horsepower or two if anything, nothing big.

50 i would say he added a 0 on there. headers won't do a huge amound for a small displacement motor unless they have a manifold runner the size of a dime. and most fwd have decent manifolds on them they have a lot more room to play with.

Yeah, a small engine like that doesn't have much exhaust coming out of. Like already said, unless the header are dime size in diameter, there really isn't much performance to gain in upgrading headers.

Well thanks for answering the first question, but does anybody know the answer to the second question that I asked. How much hp if any would you lose by having an exhaust leak around the headers? And if no hp loss is there any major down side to having an exhaust leak around the headers besides the annoying noise.

And also does anybody know if the stock 2002 headers of a V6 mustang will fit my 2000 V6 Mustang?

Having an exhaust leak in an aluminum head will eventually erode the area where the leak is untill a small leak turns into a big one.Plus you give CO a good way to get into the inside of your car.
