Question 3.55 or 3.73 rear diff?

I own a 2016 v6. It has the 3.15's in it. I have plans to boost it in a few years. Most likely procharger. What rear gear would be better? Will the 3.73 be too short? It is a DD but I mostly dive citi style driving not much highway.

I've been seeing the full housings sold set with the gears and torsen lock In a cast iron housing. With my 3.15's I need the new torsen lock as well the one used on mine don't mate or something. Should I just look into buying the whole housing all set up alredy? Is the cast iron housing worth it?

2016 already has the 8.8 (all Mustangs since 2011 have the same size rear end)

Automatic or stick? There is more to consider as well beyond the rear gears. The new Mustangs have a very different transmission gearing. I find the 3.55 perfect for the 2013 automatic, worked well with the turbo. A 3.73 would be way too much.

It's auto but if you go to buy the gears it says on all websites gears will only fit on the 3.31,3.55,&3.73 if you have stock 3.15's you need part # what ever it is for the torsen lok

he had me all turned around by calling it a "torsion lock" lol i assume he means to say he needs a different differential carrier.

i just checked, you will need the different differential carrier to use 3.31,3.55,3.73. just as it says. and remember the 16 is independent rear suspension. its not like rebuilding a solid axle in car.....you have to remove the entire aluminum housing and rebuild, and you will need a case spreader to get it apart and back together.

That's why I was looking into the whole housing that comes with everything in it. The housing is cast iron too. But the 3.73 one is 1800 bux because it has the Ford racing $900.00 differential in it. The 3.55 packed housing is like 800 bux I'm going from memory.
