Default TCS New Owner

Hello,
I am proud new owner of a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible. I wanted to take it to the local drag track for fun. I know I have to turn off my TCS, but I am not sure how to do that. I have a button on my dash that says TCS. I pushed the button and it lights up saying TCS OFF. Is that it? There is nothing coming up on my alert screen? Do I have to hold it down? I appreciate the help

I know on the 2012, you hold it for about ten seconds with your foot on the brake and it will turn off the TCS and also then turn off the advancetrak.. it will tell you on the display when advancetrak is turned off.

Congrats on the new to you car! 05-2010 didn't have much a traction control really. The only thing the TCS does is cut the timing/fuel should you spin the tires. I don't think it even applies the brakes on the slipping wheels to help regain traction.

So, yes, the simple button push is all it takes to 'defeat' traction control on those 05-2010 mustangs that came equipped with it. When TCS OFF is lit, your Traction control is OFF.

2011+ mustangs have a way more advanced system that even has different levels if you get the performance package. It also looks at Yaw and Pitch of the vehicle and applies the caliper(s) to the spinning wheels if needed. That's why they are more complicated to turn off/control. There's more features/options.
