Isnt the vacuum canister a little cylinder thing? If so when my check engine light came on for that I just took it out and cleaned it, disconnected the battery and the light hasnt came on in over a month.

well yeah it is and i just bought a new canister, and it fixed the check engine light, but im still left with a/c that works but only blows out of the defroster vent,as suggested i checked the vac. line going in thru the firewall but it is connected and when it went out nobody was under the dash,so im trying to figure out what else to check to make the vents work..i mean im assuming for now that it is a vac. thing, hell for all i know ithe switch could have just went on the fritz all the sudden
any suggestions i`ll take em ...thnx bb
