Default 99 Driver Door Lock

Hey people,

I'm about to put my baby away for the winter but I want to fix this problem I'm having with the door locks first. Only the key unlocks my driver door now, the switch and the remote both dont work so I imagine the motor is shot. I could go to the dealer and get the new part but I'm convinced I can find it chaper.

So, I have 2 questions:

1: In the 99, is the door lock motor conected woth the window motor?

2: Any suggestions on where to find the part?

Thanks

1. They shouldn't be the same motor, unless you mean electrically. Even then, you can answer this one by yourself. Since your lock servo seems to be shot, does your window still go up and down? If it does, then they aren't connected.

2. As for where to find the part, AutoZone would probably have it, your Ford Stealership will very likely have one, or can order one and let you know when it comes in. (I wouldn't trust mine to have one, they didn't have any Mercon... what if someone needed transmission work? [sm=bangbang.gif])

Har Har, I just meant It looked like the casings were linked, but I did just sorta glance over at it when I was doing some audio work in the door.

The local dealership has lots in stock but Im convinced I can find the part I need for cheaper. Maybe its not worth the trouble.
