Default 2006 Mustang 4.0 engine interchange????

I've searched, but couldn't find anything.

I recently bought a 2006 Mustang base model with the 4.0L engine in it. The motor needs to be replaced. I was wondering which years/vehicles I could find a suitable motor from.

I just want to replace the motor with the same size/design engine. I don't want to swap for a different type of motor. Basically just want to bolt in and go.

That motor was used in Mustangs, Rangers, Explorers, and Mountaineers.

Very easy to find a replacement from a junkyard.

If you can get a 2006 but these others should work.

2005-2008 or so.

Best of luck to you.

^^^ That's pretty much it.

Stay away from motors previously installed in trucks/vans. While they may swap in, manifolds and other accessories may be require swapping to fit the mustang, then you have to worry about the engine harness mating properly which then leads to potential issues with the PCM/ECM matching correctly.
