Default Turbo

I have an 2001 Cobra and was wondering if the internals can handle a turbo charger and what about the transmission/rearend how much power can they handle without breaking? I need help in keeping up with the new mustangs 2011 and up, reliability is number 1 but also my budget is only 4k

The motor can handle it.

Why not go supercharger?

Not sure about trans or rear end.

Default The law of 3's

If it's fast and cheap it wont be reliable
If it's fast and reliable it wont be cheap
If it's reliable and cheap.. it won't be fast
You can swap in powerful for fast if you like.....

I just heard the internals of this motor could not handle a lot of power not trying to make a ton of power but would like to add another 40hp, seems that bolt-ons would get me close but the LT header install and gear swap puts me over $3200 with only $800 to play with. I have the cold air intake, will be adding the short throw shifter this weekend but will this get me to keeping close with the 2011 and up mustangs?

Keep the boost low and get a safe tune and you'll be perfectly fine.

But as they always say, boost is like a drug, once you tasted it you'll want more....
