Hey guys,

I went a little off road the other day when it was raining and my front wheel went into the ditch a little bit after correcting a fish-tail. It hit a small rock and put a two nicks in my wheel. I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to make sure that this doesn't spread or rust over the next year or two when it rains and while I'm driving. Something like putting some clear girls fingernail polish just over the spots so no water or other elements can get into it.

You may be able to find a shop locally that does repairs to wheels, but that's about it. Besides the knicks though I don't think the damage will spread or anything like that.

 

I am surprised to hear you say that. You don't think the chrome will start chipping off over time?

 

Over the next 10 years? Sure. But your damage is pretty minor. I'd be surprised if it looks any different 6 months from now.

Either way, the only real repair you can do is find a local shop that can make whatever necessary repairs and re-plate it.

 

Probably cost about the same as a new wheel....
