I've got 40,600 miles, fluids are getting a bit old for my liking. Should I hit the stealer for a transmission service? I bought it used so I want the pan dropped and the filter changed too. What do they charge? I don't want a flush, I want it drained so the local jiffy lube type joint is outta the question.
Rear Diff... again, bought it used and want it checked and fluid changed.
On another note.... I park AWAY from everyone on purpose, I got this lovely gift yesterday, They obviously **** and drove off...
Dealer flushes it normally because the Torque Converters are sealed on most cars and that's the only way to get 100% of the fluid out (transmission cooler, lines, and nooks/crannies but, they will drop the pan to change the filter too if you request it. A flush is $170 at most dealers, No idea what they charge to drop the pan and replace the filter.
Rear diff, unless it's leaking or you're replacing the gears, you're good for 100K. Brake fluid should be flushed, as should your PS fluid. Both should be done every 3 years. Coolant should be looked at too. It can look "fine" but the protective compounds in it can break down leading to corrosion and less efficient cooling.
Shouldn't the local jiffy lube be out of the questions always??
