I'm a hands on kind of guy. I've had the opportunity of driving all kinds of automatics from Porsche's PDKs to Chevy's new 10 speed. My observations are the following. Yes I will admit that the newest generation of autos are quicker but the driving experience is less satisfying than when I'm rowing my own. Autos remind me of that song by Zager&Evans, "In the Year 2525"." Your arms hanging limp by your side, your legs got nothing to do, some machine is doing that for you".

I told you this would go to the rowing crowd which isn't really advice between the two automatics. What have you learned? Are you willing to give the new 10 speed a try?

new tech = bugs & kinks
my dad says it's ridiculous & an unnecessary amount of wear & tear, but it's too early to know how well they last
...he also thinks anything over 200hp is also unnecessary, but he's old, so...

Unnecessary but highly desirable. Three years ago I traded my Mustang for a Dodge Challenger Scatpack because of the 8 speed automatic. I'm looking for a new 2018 Mustang GT right now because I want the 10 speed (+ performance package +magnetic ride + active exhaust +x+y+z)
(By the way I'm in my 70s)

Your perfect logic belies your user name. That is a great idea and you are going to love the magnetic suspension.

My dream Mustang GT is only 39 miles from my house but it's missing the active exhaust and I must have it so I'm still looking. Couldn't get any answer if the active exhaust can be installed by the dealer.

Stick to your dream car. I have a GT350 and absolutely love the exhaust and suspension.
