Well, I replaced the tensioner a couple weeks ago, and while the ticking stopped, the rattling has not, so I don't know what's going on. It's not the tensioner. It only happens at about 1500 and 3000 RPM. It sounds like a rattling front license plate (but it's not). It seems to come from the the firewall area (as best I can tell from in the car), and I can't replicate it in neutral/park. It's only when the car is in motion, generally at lower speeds.

It started happening after I got my transmission rebuilt after the dreaded worn out aluminum housing issue happened to me. I just crawled under today, and no heat shields or anything seem bent out of place. I have no idea what's going on...

Keep in mind that Bank 1 (passenger side of engine) timing chain is on the rear of the engine, facing the firewall. Hate to scare you and hopefully I'm wrong....

Lol and yes, it does appear we were talking about different tensioners earlier on in the thread. Sorry for the confusion.

But wouldn't I feel a difference in driving? The car drives fine. And I'm going to keep that thought out of my head, since that is a very rare failure point.
