2009 Mustang Maintenance Help needed
Hi all!
First time poster here. I have a 2009 V6 Pony Premium Stang. Low miles, only 45K and it has been rock solid ever since I purchased it new almost 10 years ago. I have been doing oil changes and tire rotations on schedule (Always at a Ford dealership) and the only major repair made so far were new tires from them being about 7 years old at the time. I don't drive it very rough. I had a check engine light come on around the same time as a scheduled oil change and the dealership told me this: - Engine light was caused by the fuel purge valve. Needs replacing. Roughly $500 with parts and labor. (After taking it back to bring back at a later date, the check engine light never came back on) - Said I needed a new fuel filter $150 - New brakes at around 400 for all 4 (This I figured I needed soon as hell, its been 10 years) - Break line flushed. Any input on these repairs? Car runs great and like I said, the check engine light has not come back on. THANKS! |
Don't know what you want, should you replace the purge valve or not? If the CEL is off,
then no. I had the same issue with an HHR I had. I smacked it with a box wrench a few times, reset the CEL, never came back on, sold the car... $400 for brakes? $100.00 do it yourself, that's a lot for pads... BRAKE (not Break, like a lunch break), flush, just need the tools, I did mine this past summer. Got the stuff on eBay, cheap... Fuel filter, just the cost of the filter, a 10mm socket, and getting under the car... It's under a black cover, below the driver side seat area... |

For the fuel filter. Is it just a matter of disconnecting, reconnecting and bam good to go? Thanks again for the great info! |
