Default 2005 Mustang GT ABS Module Replacement

Hello everyone, I was involved in an accidnet a couple of months back and my ABS Module was damaged to where I can see the inside of it from the back. I bought a replacement one but my question is can I just replace my old ABS module with the replacement without using some type of Ford Tech to program it or do I have to have it programmed for my Mustang?

If the replacement module is from an identical car and has the same part number as the old one, it will work as-is, assuming the replacement is good. However, it will throw an ABS warning light constantly unless the vehicle's ID # is downloaded into it. My ABS light has been on several years now. A Ford dealer can load the vin for a price.

So can only a Ford Dealer fix this issue or can someone at a local garage do it?

Not sure. Have seen claims Forscan can be used to download vins, but no evidence to prove that. Someone may have more answers, hopefully.

Okay so will it work if it’s in my car without it being programmed?
