Gear Head or not?
Most of us are gear heads, or we wouldn't be here. Based on this premise... Why the heck don't you go out and buy a decent OBDII scanner?
Cheap code readers aren't worth the effort. Even the more expensive Foxwell units don't always readout what you need. Most of us wouldn't (or don't) need a SnapOn Appolo+ replete with yearly firmware fees, unless you're in the repair business. This said, since we're spending big bucks for our rides, why not spend a few more and buy an lnnova bidirectional OBD scanner (or similar)? Their 5610 unit is about $260 on Amazon. It could be a Godsend if you know what you're looking at. However, there is a caveat. As good as the Innova is (and others too), there are some vehicles they're not compatible with (typically older models). So before you spend big money, make sure the scanner you choose will indeed read your vehicle's ODBII! Bon autopétit!
