Default Brake Upgrade Recommendations

Looking at upgrading my brakes soon, looking to spend no more than about $600 max. I don't need super-performance, it's not like I have a supercharger or anything, though I do hope to get some track time in during the summer.

Slotted rotors are a given, but is it worth it to do the Cobra upgrade? Particular pads you would recommend? I'm in North Dakota, so it is FREEZING until about March/April, but this is my last winter here...brakes are damned important in this area. Middle of next year I will likely be in Atlanta, GA or Texas.

Thoughts?

Where the Cobra brakes are definatly a plus, with your mods, they aren't necessary. And no, I'm not slamming your car. I have similar mods. Slotted and drilled with Hawke pads will do you great! Save the bucks for other mods... But that's MHO....

EDIT...
You can get a pair of front slotted and drilled from www.stangsuspension.com for $150.00...

I was thinking the same, actually, that the cobra upgrade was probably a bit much for my mods. I'm not planning on modding the car much more, but I figured a brake upgrade was due.

Hawk pads seem to be well recommended....

What about rear brakes, as well? Worth upgrading both front and back, or just the front?

Do both. But I wouldn't do the rears til they were needed. Save the bucks. Hawke's are some of the best. I have them, and the slotted and drilled from stangsuspension...Haven't put them in yet, But I will very soon. The dealer I bought my car from did a pad slap. Didn't turn the rotors. Now the squeak. I HATE THAT!!
