I have a 5 speed man. tran. 1984 Mustang Gt, I just installed a new MSD distributor and even though I marked my spots before removing the old distributor and dropping the new one in the same spot the car won't start. The car backfires like the timing is off. Can anyone tell me how to manually set the timing to get the car to start.

Make sure that you didn't set the rotor 180 out. That's probably whats wrong or you are off by a couple of teeth.
