i have an 4.6 01 mustang gt with super 40's flowmatser, royal purple oil and purple ice, K&N FIPK kit and Hyper tech programmer

this boy at school wants to race me with his stock IMPREZA WRX SEDAN(the website says 230 hp DOHC 16 valves)

will i win If not what cheap things can i do , add octane booster,ets

 

is his car stick, cuz thoes things can launch like animals. o think that you will win, he will get you off the line but you will be on top of him very quickly.

Very odd how the 04 GT is slower than the 99??? Anyways, if he gets you off the line you will have to reel him back in.
How far are you planning to race? WRX's are dogs beyond 80 as the boost peeters out on them. I can hang with one on the freeway in my 00 V6.

 

it is true those cars can launch like animals, but so many people dont know how to get the most out of them off the line. Id say if u both get a decent launch u got him no sweat... do gears. And there cant be any way an '04 GT runs high 14's can there?!

 

your gt isn't auto is it? you should take him. you need a tire that you can launch on.

 

the 99 was prob a manual and the 04 was prob a auto.

 

I'd hope so, I ran a 14.203 @ 97MPH in my GT before I got nitrous. Just a Flowmaster catback and a BBK CAI (the stainless steel one, all for looks). Factory tires. My 10th run ever.

What's the other number in those times? Can't be 1/8th mile, can't be 60'...

Edit: Sorry to hijack. Please do tell me how this turns out. One of my sister's friends has a WRX that is mostly factory, he beats the hell out of it though... it's turning into such a POS. Him and his friends say he will eat me alive even with the juice, that he runs low 13s stock.

 

yeah man but still. A friend of mine's wife has an 02 GT auto Convertible and it runs 14.6ish stock... 14.8 just seems really slow is all. :shrugs:

The WRX's are tricky cars to pick to race. When they launch, its nuts! (if its a good driver). 2 of my friends raced. Friend 1) WRX w/ full exhaust; Friend 2) 99GT w/ x-pipe, catback, cai, and pulleys. They raced 3 times and the WRX destroyed him off of the line and the GT couldnt catch up to him after the launch. If you put a good driver behind the wheel of one of those cars he will take you.
