Default 351W marine blocks?

Are these blocks any different than the automotive blocks.
I am under the impression that marine blocks have a higher nickel making them stronger.
Is someone pulling my leg?
Basically i have the 385 horse 351HO crate engine based on fords marine block.
I hope you guys can anwser this one.

Thanks
Rye

i can't give you any specifics on the ford blocks but i know a lot of marine blocks have heavier castings making them stronger. if you are using the marine rotating assembly it should be balanced thats one of the major diffences between marine and auto engines. oh yeah and some fo the later model marine fords had gt40 heads on them.

It was the prototype crate engine but it has the GT-40X HI-PO alum. heads on it.
And the cobra 5.8 cobra intake as well.

i know my engine builder once told me those where the best heads to pandp one they had a lot of meat and could be made to really flow.

I think i have a great start for my buildup.
Eventually i am going to stroke this to either the 418 or 427 and i will squirt it with a 150 shot.
For now i am leaving the size alone and with my Trick flow heads and the Trick flow stage two cam with the edlebrock RPM air gap
intake, i am hoping to get around 400+ crank hp.
Then with the 150 shot i'm trying to hit the low 11's/high 10's

Roush had this combination in a 95 gt with an automatic trans and the GT-40 heads and the 5.8 cobra intake they managed to get 410rwhp somehow.
I am taking the intake and heads to the Michigan state fairgrounds swapmeet on Jan. 14 and 15th to sell as i'm going carburated.
I found this article on the net and it is identicle to what i have.

Double check the rotation on that motor, many Marine engines rotate in the opposite direction of automotive engines.

Here's an article on the engine it sounds like you have... still check the rotation

Yes thats the article that i read as well.
The engine was already running in a sn-95 car for 5000 miles.
I should not have to do anything to it but drop it in.

A 418 or 427 w/ a decent set of heads will turn 10's all day long.

Thats what i'm hoping for.
I am hoping that this comb is going to put more power to the ground than my 302 with the powerdyne at 391rwhp.(without nitrous)

ya might want to do some research on the 427 stroke i have heard of problems with it. somethign about it having too much rod angle or somthing like that can't rememver exactly what it was but sometimes they don't do quiet as well.
