Default gear swap labor

anyone know what the book sez for labor hours on a gear swap? I've been calling around the Reno area and got quotes from 250-450! I am gonna want the whole diff gone through (new bearings too) but I figured i would buy the ring & pinion and rebuild kit myself to keep costs down.

ok cool, the shop that quoted 250 has a good rep in this area, I can't wait to get 4.10's in her!

I believe I paid 350 or 375 can't recall off the top of my head for the swap but I think that they did say it was supposed to be like a 5 hour job. Which that does sound about right because most shops charge between 65-75 dollars an hour for labor here in FL.

book says 2 hours...but no one charges by the hour for ring and pinion install...just flat rate....a guy thats decent can do it in an hour flat.

i would pay no more than $250...avg. should be $200
