Default rear gear advice

looking to swap gears for something lower, either 4.10 or 4.30 seeing what you all might think about my setup and to see if 4.30's would be to much. i run 3.73 right now with a 351 and c4. 26 x 10.5 slicks and 4500 stall. at the end of the track i'm not getting all the way through 3rd gear like i would like to. some problem might be the 600dp i have and it does seem to lean out a little at top end, meaning it seems to kind of lose some power and stops pulling hard.

A buddy of mine has a mildly built 88 thats stripped to the bone he has an AOD and 4.56's and its stout. Its certainly not for the highway but you arent looking for economy or streetability with your setup so i say go with atleast the 4.10's.I have a 331C4,and a 2,000 stall and my 3.73's arent enough ill be upgrading to 4.10's soon myself.</P>

I just dont have the luxury of a track.I recently bought the G-Tech PRO so thats as close as i get to a real track time.</P>

i run a old holley red, which is about equal toa holley blue now, about 6 to 7 psi is what i run with. the fuel problem could be a major factor i know with a small carb and still have stock fuel lines. i cross the line at around 3500, i shift out at 6000 through 1st and 2nd. the big stall seems to be a little big and feels a little too loose at the end, i'mhoping a few mods like these will help me pull on through the rpm range. thanks</P>

my 60 foots are in the 1.70's range, which i know i can get down to 1.50. i spin the tire on the rim about an inch, over a few runs, so it seems to hook pretty well

hotrod...changing gears is not his problem....*LMAO*

wnsor.....yeah the 4:30 will help. but that 650dp has to go...a 750dp will take car of this and 6-7 psi is ok...what size needle and seat is in the 650..atleast the .110 I hope..have you tried up'in the float putting a rubber hose in the vent holes?

no the rubber hose idea is new to me, please explain. the 600dp is mostly just stock out of the box except for jets, i have had it for years and is really consistant and has great throttle response. i've gone through it many times but i can remember upping the needle and seat

yes it will real good throttle response as it's to small...the needle and seat have a large affect on flow. but the carb is too small. have you milled the horn?..if not do so..and put in larger squirter with the long discharge tubes..put a glass plug in the rear bowl and up the level too mid way of the sight..try these if they help where on the right track..then I can give to some other things ..buy you really need a 750 dp<edited><editID>vfast</editID><editDate>38009.4215740741</editDate></edited>

well i'll probably go with the 750dp instead of messing with that 600 anymore, ideas on fuel line? should make a consiterable difference i'd think. motor revs to 6000 since thats all the heads will allow for (professionally done cast with 1.90/1.60, comp cams roller tips, and comp cams springs)
