boss 429 was '69 and '70
just keep in mind that for now they are the least popular original body style,, however before long they'll be nearly as difficult to find as any other except maybe 69-70
BUT,, honestly, how many 71-73's do you see on the street? i would argue that its less than ANY other year, including the god awful 74-78 models
its a look that grows on you FAST, they are clean cars with nice lines, and lots of potential for power with a 351 cleveland
Can you get more pictures for us, interior pics, engine pics, under the car, in the trunk, take the rear seat down if its a 2+2, I want to look over this puppy. You should really concider the trade, it may not be as powerful as yours but its got alot of value to it, not saying yours doesnt, its just hard to find one that someones willing to give up.
Here is a prestine 73' Mach1 on ebay $8500 that is about as close to yours as I can get. Ebay Mach1
Now thats probably close to what your put into your Fox but thats an average ebay price. Private non auction prices are higher of course. Actually its a little on the low side, but its probably just because its winter.
Either way good luck with your decision, we want to see more pics, I have a couple cars I will trade! LOL

I would trade that in a heart beet that 71 Fastback looks way better than the 88. 2 me I think the boxy looking Mustangs are ugly, and you see them all over. Now the Fastback looks good, and you don’t see them left and right. And besides convertibles are for women, and they are ugly.
mustang_montana it happens to the best of us, especially me.
In 72' Strick smog laws killed the power that we came to love so much. It really wasnt the gas crunch or people looking for a smoother quieter ride, it was the inabilities of auto manufacturors to cope with the new restrictions. Before it had been all about free flow in and out with nothing to get in the way but that all changed and the developers had a hard time just making the damn engines run right. It would take 14+ years before we started to see decent power out of mustangs again, it wasnt some huge number, but mixed with a lighter car it was able to perform like it had something to show.
The most powerful 302 was offered in two packages for 69' 70' and 71', the BOSS302 w/ 290hp @ 10.5:1 CR probably the most famous and the 71' 302 that made 290hp at just 9.4:1 CR. In 72' and 73' the best power dropped to a weezy 136hp @8.5:1 CR
My wifes 71' Mach1 351C makes 330hp @ 11.7:1 CR the next step down from that is 285hp @ 10.7:1 CR
If you do get the Mach1 then you should do it a favor and rebuild the engine with for a higher CR, maybe even a stroker if you wish and you could even make it a BOSS and stick a set of aluminum 351C 4V heads on there. If you want more torque there is a company out there making a half way point for the Cleveland head that flow almost as high as the Aluminum 4V up top but has excelant velocity for torque, they call it a 3V. The bare heads start at $1200.

thats the only pic i got of that mach 1. i dont think im going to even bother with the trade, the quarter panel has a gash and i wouldnt make enough money off of it to even try.
and by the way CTX, my car is NOT ugly, with the exception of the spanish chrome rims wich are being switched with 98gt split 5 spoke 17"s and being able to take your roof down aint just for women. just cuz you dont like it doesnt mean you have to bash it.
now if we were talking about honda toyota volkswagen and anything like that id say BASH AWAY.

o and some one sed at the top that it only has 140 HP, but from what I see it has a 5.0 V8 in it so that cant be right.

the only 302 offered in 1973 was 141 hp.....you can research or dream all u want...it ain't gonna change the number
and as far as the boss 429 thing......in your post i read boss and 429 about 2 words apart. i read it fast apparently.
if i thought u were retarded..i would have said something like " your a retarded SOB who likes to sniff his moms panties, and dont know crap about crap" instead of stating that the "boss 429 was only available in '69-'70"
so yes i made a mistake reading too fast, but just so you know not to misunderstand what i DO say...that might clear it up for ya

the 1976 gremlin is not seen that much on the street and getting VERY VERY hard to find...it doesn't make it a cool car though.
