taping when motor is cold

I have a loud tap thats coming from my driver side Its sounds like a valve taping anyone expierance this before.It goes away when she warms up........2002 GT

sure it's a tap? and not an exhaust leak?

what oil are you using?

i would fix it b4 it causes damage if it is tapping.

Try cranking the cold engine with the gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor.This deactivates the injectors to clear the engine after it becomes flooded with fuel.Crank the engine untill you get an oil pressure reading on the guage.This will charge the lifters.Now,start the engine normally and if you still have the noise it's probably piston slap.If the noise is gone it's the timing chain adjuster or a lifter.
