Default Brake light

I have a 2000 V6, and when I gun it from a stop the brake light flashes on. It also pops on occasionally when I go over a dip or speed bump.

Your brake fluid is low. Fill 'er up to the line and no more problems!

I had the same problem in my 00 v6 and my back brakes were bad. I had to replace the rotors and everything. The mechanic told me that the light was coming on because my back brakes were SO badly worn that if I waited much longer, it could have been really bad.

I would advise checking that out for sure, because it could be the same thing.

the only thing the brake light tells you is that your're braske fluid is low... it doesnt say you have bad brakes.although they could have been so worn that they required more fluid to push them farther in.

Well, it had something to do with it, because that's what made the guy check all my brakes and whatnot.

If he's got a 2000, and hasn't checked his back brakes, he probably should because he's likely to need them pretty soon anyways.

what can happen if you never fill the break fluid as your pads wear the resivoir becomes lower because more fluid is staying in the caliper (its suposed to do that) when you get to a low enough level the light comes on because the fluid is low in the resiviour. i would gohead and check out the pads see if you need a break job.
