Can anyone explain the code on this tag. I purchased a 68 mustang and I am trying to figure out exactly what engine is in this car. The code is as follows:

302 C 68 1
7-G 279J

This tag was on the front of the block by the oil dipstick. Any information would be appreciated. All I can figure out from the code is that it is a 302 from 1968. Thanks.

 

it's a 302 the first three numbers are your engine

 

thanks. here is some more information that I found on the block. It is stamped with 7G24 above the number C80E-6015-A. Any more information on what engine I have?
