Default Coupe vs Convert Springs

What is the difference in springs for a coupe vs a vert? will vert springs fit on a coupe? is it the vert springs will be a bit stiffer for the slight increase in weight? i know someone who has used eibach pro kit springs for a vert and i have 02 gt cpe, 5sp. think they fit?

The springs arnt so much stiffer, they have a differnet load rating. You have spring rate, which is its compression resistance, and you have the load rating, which is the resistance to so sag. Sounds like the same thing, but basically, spring rate makes the springs either harder or softer, load rate is what determines how easily they sag or droop.

Convertables springs are very similar in spring rate, you shouldnt notice much, if any difference by putting convertable springs on the car, but it wont sag as much if you put a sound system in the trunk for example.

The front springs should be the same, rears should be the difference since the hydrolics and whatnot are in the rear.

Ya, Ford sells performance springs for coupes and verts both. I had Steeda sport springs installed on my vert and they handle like glue. They explained their springs are all the same rate for both coupes and verts, no difference. So far no problems with my set-up at all. I also have Tokico struts, shocks and KYB quads with Ford Racing rear control arms. Altogether it makes a big difference in handling and looks. I have some pictures on this site of my '98 GT vert with this set-up. If interested, just do a member search in the photo gallery on Deannostang.
