Default Hp PLUS Does it restore comp

Ok, I just picked up a can of "HP PLUS" oil additive thats suppose to restore lost horse power by filling in the scratches in your cylender walls to raise your compression back to perfecly stock. Its made by Turner Laboratories.

Now I got this stuff because my engine has 142,000 miles on it now and I figure it would help if it does what it says it does. It says that you are suppose to use it with every oil change. What I am wondering is how well this crap works and how long it works for? I change my oil religously every 3000 miles and i switch around to different Oil filters to see what I like, I bought a BOSCH this time around. So far the K&N I had was the best, I really liked that one but they are too damned expensive to be replacing every 3000 miles (like 3-4 weeks for me) And they claim to be reusable but it makes me wonder how good it is the 2nd time around... Fram is a good reliable CHEAP standby that does a faily decent job, bout as good as it gets without spending over $10 bux.

So basicly im just wondering how good this stuff works and if anyone out there has real life experiance with it... You guys out there with lower milage engines probably dont need it unless you dont change your oil often and run without an air filter, lol.

Here is what the back says if you want to read it....

Friction wear leaves scratches and lacerations on the inner metal surfaces of your engine. As a result, your automobile will gradually lose compression thereby reducing engine power. HP PLus fills and coats these cuts and improves the seal between the cylinder walls and piston rings - a significant cause for loss of compression. By adding HP PLus to your oil at every oil change, you will fell the difference in your engines performance. HP Plus is compatable with all natual and synthetic motor oils and recommended for diesel engines.......

It might give you back about 1.32 hp. But you won't get your money's worth out of a can.

The only way to REALLY restore compression is to REBUILD your motor.

All that s**t is is a band-aid fix.

Ya I know, with an engine that generally turns 3000rpms just cruising on the freeway and upwards of 5500rpms in town when i dont like slow drivers, this crap really isnt going to last that long. But I just want to see how it works for the $6 dollars.

Im pretty excited about servicing my car today, I should expect getting back up to 32mpg again. For about 800-1000 miles after each time I service it I get about that, right now im getting between 22-25mpg depending on how I drive her.

Im surprised on how mucky her oil gets after just 3000 miles, perhaps I should start changing the oil more often, perhaps every 1500-2000 miles.

by "mucky" do you mean that your oil turns black? Multi-viscosity oil does this.

I have 160K+ on my '95, I run Mobil 1. I can go longer between changes and it still looks/feels good when I change it @ 7K-10K.

yar, that it is. Basicly that HP PLus crap didnt work in any way that i could feel or see in fuel economy.... Just another fad thing.... WHo knows, my cylenders also could be scratch free and the stuff might actually work.

~shrugs~

mmoto68 I will have to try Mobil 1, sounds like its a good oil.

gm..richard petty thanks you for buying stp....

if your using reg oil and it's not getting dirty then I would be worried it wasn't cleaning the engine
